My Happy Mind
We are delighted to be part of the My Happy Mind Family!
All children in our school learn in weekly lessons to understand how their brain works, the biological parts of this and how characteristics and traits can be promoted through brain training and practice, helping us to be the very best self that we can be.
My Happy Mind works on building habits and is based on a positive growth mindset that is based on neuroscience and scientific evidence.
The Arches' pupils will be taking part in weekly My Happy Mind sessions within class working to develop some of the positive characteristics above. Once we know our brain, activities and breathing exercises will be undertaken and pupils will hopefully become more able in independently performing such challenge-tackling techniques. Children across the school are using happy breathing when they need to.
At home, parents and carers can help us in delivering this curriculum too! If you or your child would like to practise some of the techniques learned and further your in school learning of this curriculum, you are able to download the FREE My Happy Mind app. Whether at home or in school, My Happy Mind has proven to positively balance and impact those who undertake its techniques and proves to be beneficial for all right through and during adulthood!
The children will learn about different aspects of their wellbeing through 5 teaching modules:
1) Meet Your Brain: Understanding how your brain works and how to ensure we look after it so that we can manage our emotions and be at our best. Growth mindset is a key part of this too.
2) Celebrate: Understanding your unique Character Strengths and learning to celebrate them. This is a fantastic module for building self-esteem.
3) Appreciate: Understanding why gratitude matters and how you can develop gratitude as a habit. Gratitude is key to well-being and resilience and we're all about making it a lifelong strategy!
4) Relate: Understanding why positive relationships matter and how to build them. We're focussed on the building blocks of good relationships and friendships.
5) Engage: Understanding how to set meaningful goals that matter and how to stay resilient in times of challenge. This module is all about building self-esteem and resilience
We look forward to seeing how we get on! Let us know if you're carrying out My Happy Mind techniques at home and how you're finding this learning journey!
Happiness Heroes
Each class has chosen one or two children to be a 'Happiness Hero' they attend regular meetings (including juice and biscuits) with Miss Johnson our SENCo and have such an important role with My Happy Mind. They encourage peers to happy breathe at difficult times, recognise character strengths in others and give out certificates in assemblies! This term they have even conducted some pupil voice to see what other children are enjoying about My Happy Mind.
