EYFS:
In 2015/16, from a very large majority of pupils starting at below or well below national expectations in Specific Areas 59% left FS2 with a Good Level of Development.
In 2016/17, the overwhelming majority of pupils were either below or well below national expectations at the start of the year, with an estimated 74% leaving with a Good Level of Development in July 2017.
Phonics Screen:
- 54% of children passed the phonics screening check. This is a 11% decrease from 2015.
- In January 2016 only 9% were on track to attain the pass level. Interventions were put in place and teaching standards were managed through appropriate channels.
- SLT are disappointed at the low pass rate and plans have been discussed to ensure that the children are more successful next year, this includes FS2 working with ‘Tinies’ to encourage the teaching of phonics at FS1, employment of specialised Y1 and 2 staff familiar with phonics so all classes get off to a flying start.

- School were successfully externally moderated in June. Judgements were ratified as secure.
- Writing is low due to children failing to meet the spelling element. Six children failed to meet the required standard purely due to spelling, many of which have dyslexic tendencies. With those children included writing would have been 67%.
- Handwriting and spelling will become priorities in 2016/2017 SSDP as will reading throughout the school.
