Here at The Arches, our nurture group, established in 2016, has supported many of our children. Over the past four years, this intervention has provided these children with the opportunity to develop their maturity and resilience. In 2018, our school was awarded the Nurturing School Programme award run by the Nurture Group Network. As an accredditted nurture school, we believe that our children need to feel safe and secure in order to fulfill their potential and our schoolwide ethos is based around the six principles of nurture. We have developed and embedded this throughout our school to ensure the needs of every child are met.

The philosophy of the Nurture Group is drawn from the principles established by the work of Marjorie Boxall and others, and exemplified by The Nurture Group Network www.nurturegroups.org

The Nurture Group takes place in a designated room, lovingly named by the children as ‘The Snug’. The staff provide a warm, welcoming environment for our children and are consistent, predictable and caring in their approach. Our dedicated nurture group operates four afternoons a week in The Snug, providing a safe base for our children to thrive and build on their emotional literacy.
