Talk For Writing

At The Arches we follow Pie Corbetts Talk for Writing.

Talk for Writing, was developed by Pie Corbett  and supported by Julia Strong, it is powerful because it is based on the principles of how children learn.

Talk for Writing enables children to imitate the key language they need for a particular topic orally before they try reading and analysing it. Through fun activities that help them rehearse the tune of the language they need, followed by shared writing to show them how to craft their writing, children are helped to write in the same style.

We enjoy celebrating and showcasing how each class use Talk for Writing and each term we share some of our work when we have a Talk for Writing assembly. Each class take their turn to  perform a piece to the rest of the school. It is a chance for us all to see what each class have been up to and to showcase the amazing work that the children work so hard on!

Take a look at some of our pictures below from our last Talk for Writing assembly and keep yourself updated by looking at our class pages.
