Welcome to Eminence!

Welcome to the Spring term!

We have had a great first term together and have completed some amazing work. We are now back after a relaxing Christmas break and are ready and eager to learn. 

 

Monday and Wednesday will be our P.E. days - Don't forget your P.E kit. 

P.E kit should include a white or purple top, black shorts and sensible footwear. A warm top/pants for colder periods. 

 

Eminence's junior leadership team members are Layla G-T and Alfie.

Eminence's E-safety champion is Alicia.

Eminence's reading ambassador is Layla S.

Eminence's assembly will take place on FRIDAY 31ST JANUARY at 9:10am.

 

Important class information

Children should read every night to an adult and reading for pleasure is hugely encouraged. Books must be signed by adn adult and returned the following day. Lost or severely damaged books will result in a charge of £5. 

Home learning will be sent home on a Thursday and will need to be returned by the following Tuesday. Children will have two pieces of homework each week - one piece of spelling and either Maths, English or Science to accompany this. 

Attendance and Absence

The attendance and lateness of children is monitored here at The Arches as well as the Educational Welfare Department of the local authority. From September 2015, the government stated that persistent absence is where a child’s attendance is below 90%.

Children should arrive at school for 8:45am. Active learning begins at 8.55 am and children are officially late from this time. If your child arrives after this time, your child will recorded as late. If three lates are recorded at any one stage, our Learning Mentor will issue a letter and be in contact with you to aim to improve the situation. 

Lateness affects children in a variety of ways:

·       They may feel embarrassed or upset about coming into a classroom once the session has begun.

·       They miss out on learning or on registering/ordering snack etc. 

·       They don’t feel included in the daily routine from the start and this affects confidence and well-being.

·       A child arriving late can disrupt the learning of the rest of the class.

Lateness Procedure

The school gates are locked promptly at 8.55 am. After this time you will need to bring your child/children into school through the main entrance where you will be asked to sign your child in at the school office, giving the time and reason for lateness.

Absence Procedure

If your child is unwell, please phone the school on the morning of your child’s absence by 9.00am. The office staff will record this information and will not need to bother you with follow up calls or letters.

If you forget to call in, a member of staff will follow up this absence either with a call or text asking why your child/children are not at school. In the first instance, this is to ensure the safety of your child. However, we also need you to clarify the reason for all absences or else we have to mark the absence as unauthorised.

 

School uniform

The school uniform helps us to promote a sense of ownership and pride within our school. Please ensure all uniform is clearly labelled with your child's full name. All children at The Arches Primary School are asked to wear the following;

  • Purple jumper/cardigan
  • Grey or black trousers/skirt/shorts or pinafore
  • Purple shirt/polo shirt
  • Black school shoes (No trainers please)
  • Purple gingham dress (During Summer months)

Pupils with long hair are advised to wear it up. If your child wishes to wear a bow please ensure it is either purple, black, grey or white and of an appropriate size. Children are discouraged from wearing jewellery to school, items include; earrings, watches, rings, bracelets and necklaces.

Please help your child to practise their times tables and spellings regularly.
